Our history.
From horse-drawn carriage to a truck: We have nearly 100 years of transportation experience
The company was founded in 1926 by Jens Christian Koldkur and he started out with just one single horse carriage, in which he transported pigs and cattle along with feed for the local farmers.
His business developed nice and easy up until the 60´s, when the business expanded to containing fur. The next generation was now also a part of the company, and this led to the establishment of a mink farm. The growth within the fur industry meant that transportation now also included transportation of mink feed.
In the middle of the 1970´s, the first tank trucks were acquired, and the agriculture industry became a new group of clients. This development continued up throughout the 80´s and with renewed force also into the nineties when transportation of dangerous goods in tank trucks was made possible. Up through the noughties, the fur industry developed even further and naturally so did our business. In order to handle the difficult and viscous materials for the fur industry, we started customizing silo tank trucks.
We work all over Europe.
With an increased focus on the quality control of our transportations, the company was GMP-certified in 2004. We therefore comply with a long array of demands with regard to hygiene, self-regulation, traceability, and implementation of the HACCP-system. In 2018 we extended our quality management system to include the ISO9001 Certificate.
Our fleet our cars contains approximately 50 trucks + trailers and they drive all over Europe. The tasks are varied and in the latter years, the company has experienced a huge rise in the transportation of dangerous goods both in tank trucks but also as general cargo/ individual packages. The agriculture industry is still among the clients and our ATP-approved tank trucks make it possible for us to deliver food. Aside from transporting our clients´ goods, we also offer a large storage hotel to storage our clients´ liquids.
In 2016 J. Chr. Koldkur Transport A/S celebrated its 90th anniversary. For that occasion, the anniversary book "Hold dig langt væk fra lastbiler" ( “Stay far away from trucks”) was written and published. This book tells us about the company history ranging from the year 1926 up until today. This book can be purchased at the homepage of Forlaget Rasmussen & Aagaard I/S.
For many years the company has been managed by 2nd and 3rd generations of the Koldkur family, however in September 2021, the Koldkur family chose to sell J. Chr. Koldkur Transport A/S to Hans Jensen Transport A/S as a part of a generational shift. More about the merger here.
Behind the wheels.
Some refer to them as drivers – we call them pilots.
To us it is everyday speech – behind the wheels we have pilots.
We do not do this to be different, but to indicate and symbolize the responsibility we undertake behind the wheels. We conduct transportation within the areas of pharma, food, feed, and industry goods. Common to the industry are the specific rules, demands, and legislation in each specific area. A responsibility we carry when we sit behind the wheels.
